Spiritual Direction: Christine Hall

All spiritual guidance and devotional practice have for its function only this… of bringing the persons to be guided more directly into the Healing Presence and then to leave them there. God is the real spiritual director. —Douglas Steere, Quaker

My Understanding:
Spiritual direction or accompaniment is an ancient practice of companioning in which one person helps another to notice and name their everyday experiences in light of who they are becoming in relationship to the Holy. As a spiritual director—also called a spiritual guide or companion—I offer discerning conversation in an atmosphere of prayerful attentiveness.

My approach is Spirit-centered, and informed by Quaker and Christian faith and practice. I seek to use inclusive and affirming language about the Holy or God, understood as active within us, between us, and beyond human understanding. Usually, we’d meet monthly for an hour, either in person or using video conferencing. I’d follow your lead in topics and hopes for our time together, offering hospitable, gentle reflection about your life in faith.

I am a member of Spiritual Directors International (SDI), and have been practicing spiritual accompaniment for more than ten years. Read more on spiritual direction including diverse definitions, misconceptions, video samples, and helpful articles from SDI

If you’d like to explore the possibilities, please contact me. An initial conversation without charge can help us discern whether we’ll be a good fit for an ongoing spiritual accompaniment relationship. Fee per session is $75.
