Lisa was a beautiful woman, a mom, a teacher, an associate professor of economics at SPU’s School of Business & Economics. She worked tirelessly in the classroom and in her scholarship (publishing and presenting 40+ academic papers) to create a model of Kingdom Economics—which she called Sabbath Economics.

Her other roles were of wife, mom, friend and enourager. She and her husband, Tim, had four children-Kenny, Charlie, Billy and Mary. She and Tim were part of the original team that understood and affirmed the vision of GOOD NEWS Associates-and she served as a board member for several years.

A few years ago, their world was shattered by the news that she had colon cancer. From then on her journey was textured both by the ordinary flow of her life and the medical challenges she constantly faced. During this time she wrote a lot. In a notebook by the side of her bed, on scraps of paper, on her computer. She was in the process of creating a manuscript to challenge and empower ordinary Christians to be more economic literate and faithful.

Tim is discovering new writings each day. He has created a blog so he can make her writing available to us all. Tim will post Lisa’s non-academic writing as he finds and transcribes them: her essays, notes, observations of the world around her; her kids, her teaching and students, friends and family.

GOOD NEWS Associates is honored to partner with Tim so that her writings continue to bless, inspire and challenge us.
